The Eugene Yacht Club and the Triton Yacht Club hold races every Thursday during the summer.

The earth-filled dam is 44 ' tall, blocking the Long Tom River. It was completed by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1941.

Its a bird watcher's paradise with egrets, herons, bitterns, migrating Canada geese, white pelicans and eagles.

REPAIR OF THE DAM

The Army Corps of Engineers determined that the risks of flooding downstream or of breaching the dam during a winter storm event were too high. The repairs were completed in 2005.
