![]() Walk with me and see how beautiful it is here.....
Last year I collected some stinging nettle seeds. Stinging nettle is my favorite wild food. With rubber gloves, I collect it and put it in a
plastic bag. When I get home I drop it into boiling water, and the sting instantly goes away. It cooks up much like spinach, but doesn't taste like
spinach. It has its own taste. Great with a little butter! I decided to plant the seeds on the far end of my pond.

It was another beautiful sunny January day. Not too cold, but a bit nippy. On the way to the pond I walked through a part of the woods that's carpeted in beautiful thick moss. Lovely to walk on! Mushrooms like to grow in it.

On the western edge of my woods, the ground drops off and there is a nice view of Spencer Butte.

I noticed this cute red mushroom on my walk. I'm not a mushroom expert, but I take red as a warning and didn't touch it.

Here's another beautiful fungus.

Winter storms sometimes takes a few trees down. These oaks have been down for years.

This yew tree has been dead for as long as I can remember, and we've lived here 24 years.

Look at this gorgeous yew burl! It looks like the face of a bear.
